GARLAND, TX-On October 18, 2015, The health ministries department of the Casalita Drive Church in conjunction with Tour de Youth 2015 launched the Biggest Loser Weight Loss and Lifestyle Change Challenge. The program is designed to bring awareness to obesity in America. Under the leadership of Doctor Maxine Theriot co-chair of the health ministries department at the church, the challenge is modeled after the hit T.V. show. Twenty-eight individuals from across the Dallas have signed up to participate in this fun and spirit filled program.

The teams are divided into groups of three, consisting of church members, family, friends and co-workers. Weigh-ins are held at the church or a designated facility where fitness challenges can occur. On opening night the group came together for the first official weigh-in. All twenty-eight contenders combined had an initial weight of 6,669 pounds and an average weight of 238. By the end of week two, the combined weight had dropped to 6,603 pounds with a total weight loss of 66 pounds! To God be the glory great things He has done!

The Biggest Loser challenge will run for 90-days. Individual gifts and prizes have been awarded along the way but the team who has loses the greatest percentage of total body weight will win a $1,000 prize grand prize.

Obesity is a growing problem in America. That’s why the health ministries department at Casalita has teamed up with the 2015 Tour de Youth Ride for Life Campaign. This is a 325-mile road race that will begin at Southwest Region headquarters in Dallas and finish in San Antonio, TX to coincide with the opening of our 60th General Conference Session. As an added bonus to Biggest Loser candidates, the Tour de Youth Campaign will donate an iPad mini to the contestant who has lost the greatest percentage of body weight by the next weigh-in!

We invite you to keep all contenders in your prayers as God continues to break the chains that bind, and our lives are used as a living testimony for Him.
